So, because I promised you and I have time to waste before the Tila Tequila reunion show, I bring you the second edition of YO, check it out! Once again, this is a list of everything I have come across in the last couple of weeks or so that I think are interesting/important/worth your time to check out. Enjoy!
1.) Sarah Haskins. No, not the professional triathlete. Rather, a witty woman that the world knows very little of except for her hilarious videos called Target Women on Current. She pokes fun at everything that is marketed toward women (wedding shows, botox, and campaign votes, to mention a few). My favorite video (which I'll attach just below) is Target Women: Yogurt. And no, it's not my favorite because Leisha Hailey was in yogurt commercials (although, that is an added bonus).
2.) Rock the Reception. Now, I don't watch much television lately (unless of course, it's the L Word or Family Guy) but I somehow managed to come across this show. Actually, I don't know how I came across it because I just checked TLC's website and it claims that the show doesn't premiere until July 15th at 8:30PM. Either way, I suggest checking it out because it had me smiling. The show, which features engaged couples looking to spice up their wedding receptions, changes the definition of a married couple's first dance. So, if you're into heterosexual courtship or just want to giggle at couples doing choreographed dances, it's worth the half an hour.
3.) Overheard in New York. Sometimes funny, sometimes stupid. Almost always entertaining. Conversations that people have overheard in New York and submit to the website. There's also Overheard Everywhere and Overheard in the Office.
4.) The Diaper Bank. Located in downtown New Haven, or well, the drop-off is in West Haven, the Diaper Bank is an organization that provides diapers for families in need. Programs like WIC and food stamps do not provide for diapers, so this organization does what it can to help. You can drop off donations of diapers during the week at 14 Gilbert St in West Haven. And if you cannot do the drop-off and would still like to donate packages of diapers, feel free to leave them with me. My mom and I just did a donation of three boxes of diapers yesterday. If you're not from the Connecticut area, I encourage you to look up similar programs in your state.
Honorable Mentions:
- Chris Pureka. I can listen to her on repeat. Her MySpace.
- Passive-Aggressive Notes. HILARIOUS website. People submit notes that they come across at home/work/on the street. There was one post-it note that if I didn't know better, I would have thought I wrote. It was left on a microwave and said something about making sure to clear off the extra seconds because some people have OCD.
