Birthday Present Project

Every year, my family struggles to come up with birthday presents for my dad. He doesn't really want or need anything and if he does, he usually has already bought it for himself. So, last night, I was laying in bed on the verge of sleep thinking about a present that I could get for him when the most brilliant idea EVER popped right in. Now, if you know my dad, you know that he is anal about washing the dishes before he even puts them into the dish washer to get washed. The problem with that is that we never know if the dishes are really clean, or just well rinsed from the pre-wash. So, I decided to make him one of those Mr. Dirty/Mr. Clean things that way we never have to wonder if the dishes are clean again. Oh, but of course I couldn't make a boring old dirty/clean sign, I had to spice it up with my face!

Here it is:Click on it to see it large.

And in case you're like Anthony and have never heard of these before, you stick it on your dishwasher with a magnet (or in my unmagnetized case, a hook) and when the clean side is up, the dishes are clean. When dirty gross Kristin is facing up, then you better get to washing!!

Awwww, adorable and creative! I just got your comment so I felt it deserved a reply...

I never wanted to tell my thoughts on Feministing because I know it's *kind of* a popular resource for feminist info, but I absolutely agree and I think you put it perfectly. Shit gets vicious there; I've found it necessary to stop reading it because it's 1) Catty as all hell, and 2) Incredibly hostile/argumentative by both readers AND WRITERS.

It's high school all over again. I've felt this so hard this summer as well working with VAWPP on campus...I'm (regrettably) working with them in the fall as well, so I'm crossing my fingers that I won't be beheaded by November for failing to tow the party line.

Thanks for the support, you're a sweet lady. I'll fly the Kristinism flag anytime!

P.S. I'd totally love to hear your thoughts on pornography one day, haha

In all actuality, VAWPP and the Women's Center aren't that different at all. It's very..........clique-y.
Last year I applied TWICE to volunteer there, and was rejected both times, despite their "urgent need" for people. They did noootttt like me, hahaha. Strangely though, I ended up being hired to work this summer doing summer orientation, go figure.
It's more about whether or not someone likes you, not what you'd bring to the organization. Bullshit, basically.
Good news though...Betsy has left! Now she's sitting pretty doing some bureaucratic crap for mental health services, where her ego can run wild and free. That woman totally sucked.

I'm not doing the full year of VAWPP, just the fall semester. Otherwise I would go crazy!
